This site is designed to be read without an account. We collect as little data as possible and do not sell personal information.

Legal basis (GDPR)
We process personal data only where necessary:
- Browsing and hosting logs, legitimate interest in operating, securing, and maintaining the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Email you send us, legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and maintaining an editorial record of corrections and reuse requests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), or steps at your request before a contract where applicable (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
You may object to processing based on legitimate interest; we will balance your objection against our need to operate the site and handle correspondence.
What we do not do
- No user accounts or login
- No newsletter signup or marketing list on the site itself
- No sale of personal data
- No intentional collection of health data through forms (there are no forms except your email client if you write to us)
Browsing the site
Pages are static HTML served from a web host. When you visit, standard server and content-delivery logs may record technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, and timestamp. Hosting providers use these logs for security, abuse prevention, and performance. We do not use them to identify individual readers or to build marketing profiles.
At the time of this policy, the site does not run first-party analytics (for example Google Analytics or similar). If that changes, this page will be updated before analytics are enabled, including what is collected and how to opt out where applicable.
Search
Site search runs in your browser. When you type a query, the page loads a
public search index file (/search-index.json) and matches
locally. Search terms are not sent to us as you type.
Cookies and local storage
The core site does not set cookies for authentication or tracking. Your browser may store routine cache data so pages load faster. Third-party services linked from pages (for example journal websites) may set their own cookies when you follow external links.
Fonts
Typography is loaded from Google Fonts. When your browser requests those files, Google may receive your IP address and basic technical data under Google’s own privacy policy. If you prefer to avoid that, use a browser extension or settings that block remote fonts; the site remains readable with system fallbacks.
Email contact
If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send: your email address, message body, and any attachments. We use that information only to respond to corrections, reuse requests, or other site-related correspondence, and to keep a minimal record of issues already addressed.
Please do not email personal health information, full microbiome reports, symptoms, diagnoses, or medical images. We cannot provide clinical advice and are not set up to store health data securely.
Retention: correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request and maintain an editorial record, then deleted or archived in ordinary email storage unless a longer period is required for legal or abuse-prevention reasons.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of personal data we hold about you, and to data portability where applicable. To exercise these rights, email hello@microbiomeinterpretation.com from the address you used originally so we can verify the request. We will respond within one month where required.
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at). If you live in another EU/EEA country, you may also contact your local authority.
Children
The site is written for adults interpreting their own or family reports in general terms. It is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated when hosting, tooling, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. This policy is governed by Austrian data-protection law in conjunction with the GDPR.
